Keeping up with the Guiding Light Alumni

This blog will now aim to keep you up-to-date on what is going on with the former GL cast members as they explore new horizons. Many of the stars you loved are involved in new projects, some in the genre, some on stage, while others have ventured on to something completely different! This blog is written and maintained by Tracey and Mike. If you have information you wish to submit for publication please contact one of us and we will consider your request!

CBS Cancels Guiding Light-Fans Unite

I know our hearts are all feeling a bit low this evening upon hearing the news we did not want to hear, that CBS would not be renewing Guiding Light.

Please feel free to post comments. I will post more later, but my inbox has been going non-stop since word broke!

Here is the contact info for TeleNext and Proctor and Gamble. They are shopping for a new home for GL. Let them know that we want GL on the air. Make sure you let CBS know how disappointed you are in their decision, as well.

  1. Thanks for doing this. We need to keep the light shining!

One comment: the Procter & Gamble email address doesn't work for me. Can someone please post a working email address for P&G?

I love the show, I'm 46 and have been watching my whole life. The show has been fantastic lately and it deserves to live on. You'd be hard pressed to find better characters, cast, writers, etc. Keep the light shining!

  3. I think it would be perfect if Soap Net picked it up. Even if it was only a 30 min. show. I have watched GL on and off my entire life. My mother has watched it faithfully since 1957. She watched all of the CBS soaps...Y&R, Search for Tomorrow (canceled), ATWT & GL. After GL there was a show called Dark Shadows (a vampire soap) LOL! that I watched after my nap as a little girl. It's the rich American history that GL holds as well as all soaps that makes it so hard.

  5. I'm a 4th generation viewer of Guiding Light! I've grown up with Beth & Philip,Rick, the Bauer cookouts,Reva & Josh, the Coopers, etc. Why would they even consider cancelling THE longest running & still the best show on daytime television?? I now watch it with my daughters; that's 5 generations who have viewed and loved this soap! The LIGHT needs to keep shining!!!
